Extendicare Falconbridge was filled with angels on Dec. 23.

Students from Canada and Bolivia, who are involved in a Canada World Youth Exchange program, partnered with Autism Ontario, Sudbury and District Chapter, to hand-deliver porcelain figurines to every resident in the building.

“This joint act of volunteerism and sharing will bring joy to our Canadian senior citizens and recognition to the hard working health care workers of Falconbridge Extendicare, ” Rick Grylls, co-president of Autism Ontario, said.

Grylls said after the organization acquired the angels, they decided to use them to brighten the lives of seniors at the centre.

Two students from Bolivia involved in the program volunteer with Autism Ontario one day a week. All 17 of the Bolivian students visiting Sudbury took part in the angel handout.

“This will be a good memory for the Canadian World Youth and bring pleasure to the residents and staff," Chanda Grylls-Mahaffy, co-president of Autism Ontario, said.
