The Blazing Elwoods, a one-man band made of local musician Brent Wohlberg, have released its first single.

Big Red Rooster, a "quirky" country-type song, came out about two weeks ago. Wohlberg recorded a video for the song in his home studio, Artifact Media, and has put the single on CD Baby.

He said the single release is like a "warm up" for the release of his full-length country CD expected out this spring.

At this point, Wohlberg said he doesn't know what to expect from the release.

“It's almost more of an experiment, to see if I can do this on my own,” he said.

Wohlberg said he's been writing music since he was about 16 years old, but has little experience releasing it. He said putting a track to radio has been "quite an undertaking."

So far, Big Red Rooster has aired on The Fox Hole on CKLU. Wohlberg said he would appreciate any requests to hear the song played on other local stations.
