Yvette Morel “was a real giver in her life,” according to her son Ray Morel. About five years ago, she passed away.

In recognition of the life she lived, Ray and his brother Wayne wanted to do something in honour of her memory, so they started The Yvette Morel Family Foundation to support local causes like the Rotary Club and area food banks.

On May 5, the brothers are meeting on stage at the Trevi Tavern to raise funds for the Alzheimer Society — a disease their mother lived with.

Years ago, Ray and Wayne both played in local bands that had “really good followings.” About seven years ago, the brothers performed their last show as a music and comedy duo.

Even though it has been a while since they last performed, Ray has high hopes for show at the Trevi.

“We fully expect the place is going to be full,” he said. The more the merrier, because every nickel raised at the door will go to the Alzheimer Society. On top of that, Ray's company, the Morel Group, will match funds raised through ticket sales.

“If we can touch just one person's life, just a little bit, then we will have accomplished what we wanted to accomplish,” he said.

The show, fittingly named Morel and Morel, beings at 8:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $10 or reserved in advanced by phoning the Trevi Tavern at 705-560-0700.
