Sudbury Music Scene launches Battle of the Bands contest

Sudbury Music Scene is giving one of its member bands a $1,000 cash prize, professional studio recoding time, a pro photo shoot and reduced-rate printing costs. The catch is, the band has to win the organization's Battle of the Bands competition.

During July and August, bands will play at Cousin Vinny's in Hanmer. Every band will have the opportunity to take the stage three times, and the finalists will be able to play more. The final showdown will take place at Valley East Days.

Voting for the winning band will take place at the venue as well as online.

Chris Bryant of Sudbury Musical Scene said qualities like stage presence, original content and overall sound will be considered in selecting a winner.

In order to participate, bands must be members of Sudbury Music Scene.
