More than 2,700 Jehovah's Witnesses gathered in downtown Sudbury June 17 to 19 for the annual Watchtower convention.

Roy Dewer, volunteer with the convention, said participants travel from “all over northeastern Ontario” to attend the convention.

“Every year we get together and we have a three day event like this,” he said. “It's all bible based and it's for the point of trying to encourage us to keep doing the work that we have (been), preaching the good news.”

Dewer said participants look forward to the event each year.

“It's a spiritual oasis where we can come together as a group of fellow believers and be built up and encouraged by one another by seeing friends,” he said.

Gord Muncaster, volunteer with the convention, said the three-day event consisted of a number of activities, including listening to bible talks, demonstrations, practical suggestions on improving preaching and costume dramas.
