Building on the same promise of efficient performance, confidence and flexibility it’s offered for generations, the all-new 2012 Subaru Impreza gets numerous improvements to make it the company’s best entry-level model yet.

Available in Sedan and five-door configurations, the Japanese automaker says their latest work boasts the highest levels of room and fuel efficiency its ever offered. Shoppers can expect a wide model range to select from, as well as new drivetrain technologies that assure pleasing performance and reduced gas consumption.

By using a longer wheelbase and shorter overhangs for the 2012 Impreza, engineers improved ride quality, generated more on-board space while keeping the vehicle’s "footprint" the same as the outgoing model. The windshield is more raked, which allows for a wider front door opening and better outward visibility. Rear doors are also larger, and door sills are lowered slightly, meaning the 2012 Impreza is easier to board, exit and see out of.

Subaru’s "hawkeye" headlights and powerful wheel arches, first seen on the new Legacy, are present on the 2012 Impreza as well, giving it an aggressive and muscular character on the road.

Cabin upgrades include premium materials, increased hip and legroom, and a standard information display or 4.3-inch colour multifunction display screen — depending on the model in question. Owners of older Impreza models will notice a richer look and feel to the cabin, as well as new front seats and a sporty new instrument cluster.

Available feature content includes 17-inch alloy wheels, a power sunroof, leather-wrapped steering wheel, automatic climate control, front fog lights and a rear spoiler. Xenon lighting, satellite radio and leather seating will also be available, as is a Vehicle Dynamics Control monitor, which shows drivers what the Impreza’s standard Symmetrical All

Wheel Drive (AWD) system is up to in real time.

An all-new two-litre boxer powerplant generates 148 horsepower and 145 lb.-ft of torque, while Subaru’s Dual Active Valve Control System (Dual AVCS) optimizes performance, fuel efficiency, and emissions in all driving situations. Transmission choices include a five-speed manual, or a Continually Variable Transmission (CVT).

A full range of standard safety features and available accessories round out the package. Check with your Subaru dealership for the first 2012 Impreza’s to arrive this summer.
