Cinéfest announces award winners

Tammy Frick, festival director of Cinéfest, said the film Cloudburst was well-received. Fans liked it so much, they voted it the Cinéfest Sudbury International Film Festival Audience Choice Award winner.

Tammy Frick, festival director of Cinéfest, said the film Cloudburst was well-received. Fans liked it so much, they voted it the Cinéfest Sudbury International Film Festival Audience Choice Award winner.

Days after the 23rd annual festival, a number of other award-winning films were also announced.

Winning films in the CTV Best in Shorts include:

First place, open category: The Standoff by John Alden Milne
First place, student category: Shoes! by Ryan Ongaro
Second place, student category: Ad Noctvm by Josh Herd
Third place, student category: Introspection by Sam Desrosiers
Northern Flicks Award: Sugaring by Ryan Mariotti
Best Animation Award: Private Snuffy by Ben Sainsbury

The Guantanamo Trap was also named Best Canadian Documentary.
