The truth is Bill Marks is producing a film in Sudbury. The truth is it stars the likes of Forest Whitaker, Eva Longoria and Andy Garcia. The truth is background actors are still needed.

Filming for The Truth will be ongoing until Nov. 15. It began on Oct. 27.

The film is the story follows a former CIA operative-turned-political talkshow host, played by Garcia, who is hired by a corporate whistle-blower to expose her company's cover up of a massacre in South American village, according to theInternet Movie Database.

Rosalie Chilelli, managing director of Edge Enterprises, said about 150 people are needed for background roles, “to make the scenes believable.” Extras will be compensated for their time, she said.

Chilelli said Sudbury was selected as a filming location because it's the “best suited” of the northern cities. Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) funding has given filmmakers an “incentive” to work in the north, she added.

“Downtown Sudbury can work for downtown Toronto,” Chilelli said.

The Truth is also filming in the Dominican Republic.

Having skilled crews in the north is also a bonus for filmmakers, Chilelli said. Since NOHFC funding was introduced, the number of northerners working in film-related fields has grown, and more and more expertise has come to the city. Between the funding incentives, location options and skilled workers, the north was a winning choice.

Having a major motion picture like The Truth filming in Sudbury is also an opportunity for those interested in acting, looking to knock something off their bucket list or those who simply want to try something different.

Being an extra is “a great way to see the (filmmaking) process and be part of it,” Chilelli said.

And, it could result in a clip on the screen seconds before a Hollywood giant.

To apply for an extra role, Chilelli said people must submit the following information to [email protected]:

- a recent photo (attached as a .jpg image)
- home and cell phone numbers
- e-mail addresses
- birthday
- contact information (and parent/guardian contact information for actors 18 and younger)
- sizing information: women - dress size, pant size, bust, waist (at bellybutton), hip, bra, shoe size, height
- sizing information: men – shirt size (collar and sleeve), pant size (waist and inseam), shoe size, suit jacket (chest) size, t-shirt size, height and weight.
