Making it up as they go

A profession, a disease and a feeling — name one of each, quick. Then watch as members of local improv teams turn it into something hilarious.

From Feb. 9 to 11, high school teams from around northern Ontario will gather at Thorneloe University in Sudbury, using their best lines to make it to the Canadian Improv Games.

The schedule for the 18th annual event includes:

Thursday, Feb. 9
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Show starts at 7 p.m.
Bishop Alexander Carter Secondary School
Bracebridge and Muskoka Lakes Secondary School - Electric Impulse
Espanola High School
Lasalle Secondary School
Lo-Ellen Park Secondary School - Team B
St. Charles College

Friday, Feb. 10
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Show starts at 7 p.m.
Bracebridge and Muskoka Lakes Secondary School - Static Shock
Confederation Secondary School
Huntsville High School
Lo-Ellen Park Secondary School - Team A
O'Gorman High School
 

Saturday, Feb. 11
Wild Card Round takes place at 12:30 p.m.
Teams who ranked fifth through ninth in the previous two nights will perform again for the last spot in the finals.

Finals
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Show starts at 7 pm.
The top four teams will advance to the finals, along with the winner of the Wild Card Round.

The community is invited to take in the events. Tickets to the preliminary rounds cost $7 for students and seniors and $10 for adults, and tickets to the finals cost $10 for students and seniors and $13 for adults. They can be purchased at the door.
