Sudbury resident Gilles Laporte sent us this photo of a deer he recently snapped during a visit to Port Loring.
“Port Loring is known for having a large amount of deer in the winter months,” he said in an e-mail to Northern Life.
“I guess deer migrate to this deer yard to spend the winter, and have been doing this for as long as I can remember.
We spend a lot of time on Manitoulin, and noted that the deer population seems to be dropping.
We normally see 250 to 300 deer in Loring, but as with Manitoulin, the numbers were much lower than what we usually see.”
