Before hitting the road for their 32nd anniversary tour, Evolutionary is putting on a show for the hometown crowd.

On March 8, Confederation Secondary School's 26-piece rock band will play for elementary schools in the Rainbow Board, in support of the Joan Mantle Music Trust. This year, Confederation was the recipient of new instruments from the program.

“This concert is an opportunity for our school to give back so that other schools will reap the benefits of the Joan Mantle Music Trust in future years,” Norm McIntosh, music director, stated. “Music education is a significant aspect of personal development and it is important that all students have an opportunity to experience this."

Students from Churchill Public School, Queen Elizabeth Public, Princess Anne Public, Wanup Public, Lansdowne Public and Algonquin Road Public will attend the show at the high school. It will be the first of 16 concerts that the Evolutionary Band is scheduled to perform this year.

The band tours from March until June, performing in front of more than 8,000 students per year. Their shows include a high energy, choreographed presentation with an exciting light display including lasers, strobes, smoke machines and intelligent lighting.

The shows will help support the Joan Mantle Music Trust. Since 2008, more than $96,000 has been raised for new instruments for Rainbow Board students. The Trust allocates funds to Rainbow Schools to provide a tangible improvement in the condition of musical instruments and equipment, allowing students to achieve more in their musical studies.
