Leigh Freeman impressed the Senior Star judges enough to take home top honours.

The annual competition, now in its sixth year, allows anyone over the age of 65 to show off their musical talents for a panel of music experts, government officials and media representatives.

In Sudbury, the runner up was Dolly Dagenais, and third prize was awarded to George Leroy Roberts.

Now, Freeman and Dagenais will be considered by a national judging panel for the Canada-wide competition. The top 10 will be invited to a national final in Niagara Falls in November.

Meadowbrook Retirement Residence, Southwind Retirement Residence and Westmount Retirement residence congratulated their seniors for success in the competition.
