Weatherly is still “on cloud nine” following their win at the Dauphin Countryfest Battle of the Bands competition.

The hometown boys took home top honours from Canada's longest-running country music festival June 28, while country greats like Reba, Ronnie Dunn and the Zac Brown Band entertained guests on the mainstage.

“Our primary reason for participating in the competition was to potentially reach new audiences with our music,” Weatherly frontman Jason Fraser said.

“There is some amazing talent across this country and we really did not anticipate the outcome.”

For their winnings, Weatherly was awarded $2,000. It's not the first time the Sudbury-based rockers have wowed judges in competitive settings. Earlier this year, they won the Spanish Rock N' Roar Battle of the Bands competition, and also earned a place opening for Marianas Trench at Summerfest.
