September is officially Arts Month in Sudbury.

Greater Sudbury's Mayor Marianne Matichuk signed the special proclamation, declaring the launch of the fall and winter art season.

With so many events taking place throughout the month, citizens are encouraged “to take the time during this month and throughout the year to experience creativity and artistic expression in all its forms and to support the Sudbury Arts Council's mandate to connect, communicate and celebrate the arts,” according to the SAC.

The proclamation further states that “Greater Sudbury supports opportunities to celebrate and promote the value of creativity in our lives as reflected in the arts and culture.”

This month, a number of arts events are taking place. Cinéfest is currently underway, the Jazz Sudbury Festival recently wrapped up, and a number of art shows and theatre events are taking place in the coming weeks.
