Norm Marcil’s “Blue Thunder” 2004 Chevy Corvette “drives like a Cadillac.”

The Azilda resident and his wife, Sharon, purchased the car three years ago. The Marcils, who also owns a gold 1984 Corvette that “drives like a tank,” were looking for something “new and improved.”

They wanted something more reliable with less mileage.

When they spotted the Corvette advertised on Kijiji, the retired couple said “the price was right” and it was “more than expected.”

There are 30 accessories to the vehicle, including lambo doors (vertical doors), C-R5 body kit, C-R5 hood, head rests, bullet exhaust system, vortex rammer air intake and stainless steel grills. Chrome hoops were installed behind the seat and emblems were added to the engine, seats and dash.

The six-speed standard has leather seats and magnetic ride control. The speedometer reads a maximum 300 kilometre per hour speed.

The sports car is called Blue Thunder because of the colour and the modified exhaust.

“Heads turn,” Marcil said.

The Corvette has won trophies for Best in Show and Most Artistic from car shows throughout Ontario.

The couple are among the original founders of the Sudbury Corvette Club, which began 10 years ago. They join some of the 20 members for occasional poker runs.
