Cinéfest has released the list of award-winning films of the festival.

Taking top honours, the Audience Choice Award, was In Return. The feature-length comedy about a hopeless romantic who falls for a homeless girl made its world premiere at the festival.

Chris Dymond and William Woods, the writer-director and producer, came to Sudbury to see their movie make its world premiere during the festival.

The award for best short, as chosen by the audience, was won by Utopia? By Brent Godfrey and Ryan Ongaro.

Winners of the CTV Best in Shorts competition include:

Open category - First place – The Runner by John Alden Milne.

Student category - First place – Utopia? By Brent Godfrey and Ryan Ongaro; Second place – Foxy Lady by Alek Bélanger; Third place – Closets by Vincent Deiulis.

Other winners include:


Northern Flicks Award – Morning Zombies by Kevin Hoffman.


Best Animation – Reesor Siding by Paul Rodrigue.
