Danielle Lyn Greene set out to succeed at the Miss Canada Globe Pageant.

At the event, held this past August in Toronto, the Nairn Centre native came home with the MCGP Canadian Scholarship Ambassador banner and crown.

“With this, I have received a scholarship to university,” Greene said. “I am presently attending Laurentian University to complete my BSc. As this titleholder, one of my responsibilities will be to promote the value of education to youth as well as adults, but also specifically to women as a means of strength and independence.”

The first-time pageant contestant said she thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

“It was a lot of hard work, longs hours of preparation and training sessions,” she said. “It was frustrating at times but also a lot of fun. I had the chance to get to know and spend time with some wonderful people from diverse backgrounds.”

From her success here, Greene will be competing internationally next year, representing Canada. Along with the title and opportunities, Greene said she also experienced a lot of self-growth during the pageant.

“I came home a strong woman,” she said, “with more confidence and the ability to move forward knowing who I am as a person and how to succeed to the best of my ability.”
