Northern Ontario is full of wonders, and many of them are highlighted in Le Théâtre du Nouvel-Ontario's next production.

Zesty Gopher s'est fait écraser par un frigo is “an artistic experience that will make you feel good about living in Northern Ontario.”

Starring hometown voice Patricia Cano, the production follows a postmistress with an uncanny ability to read through envelopes. As a result, Marie-Louise Painchaud finds herself sharing her neighbours' most intimate dramas and hopes.

Written by Tomson Highway, the production includes “magnificent songs performed in French, English and Cree.”

Director and TNO's artistic director Geneviève Pineault said the production is sure to draw feeling from the crowd.

“When I read Tomson's play, I was touched by Marie-Louise's kindness and her love for the people that surround her,” she said.

Francophone audiences can appreciate the production, and thanks to Supertitles, Anglophones can also take in certain showings.

Performances are presented Oct. 25 to Nov. 3, with Supertitles Oct. 27, 31 and Nov. 1.
