In honour of Black History Month, three leading black comedians are taking the stage at Theatre Cambrian.

On Feb. 2, Gilson Lubin is headlining a performance along with Kris Bonaparte and Jordan Sowunmi.

“Originally from the Caribbean island of Saint Lucia, Lubin was raised in Canada and inspired into comedy by some of the best ever to grace a comedy stage including Bill Cosby and Eddie Murphy,” stated a media release from event promoters.

"Rave reviews followed almost immediately leading to appearances on career-launching platforms including HBO’s Russell Simmons Def Comedy Jam, Comedy Central’s ‘Premium Blend,' Comedy Now and the prestigious Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal. Lubin has received awards for his performances including a Canadian Comedy award for funny newcomer, a Las Vegas Comedy Festival as well Spike Tv’s ‘Spike The Mic’ development deal to name a few.”

Last year, Lubin was a host on MTV Canada, where he showcased his “edgier” side.

“Refreshing and unique has been something expected by those who come to know Lubin's comedy which brushes heavy social issues as much as his Caribbean upbringing and North American living.”

Advance tickets to the show, which cost $25, are now available from the TC box office at 705-524-7317. Tickets will also be available at the door for $30.
