YES Theatre will become the first theatre company in Sudbury to stage the musical phenomenon Les Misérables, according to a media release from the young company.

During its fifth season, YES will pull together one of its biggest casts ever.

“I am very excited about this announcement which will undoubtedly be our biggest production yet,” said Alessandro Costantini, president of YES Theatre. “It will be a perfect way to commemorate our fifth season in 2014.”

The world-renowned production debuted in Paris. It has since been produced in more than 20 countries in 21 different languages. Set during the French Revolution, Les Misérables follows the redemptive story of ex-convict Jean Valjean as he tries to live a peaceful life, leaving behind his dark past.

Still a ways away, YES is more currently focused on its fourth-season production Jesus Christ Superstar. It will be staged at Sudbury Theatre Centre from Aug. 9 to 24.
