It's estimated that 33,000 people in Greater Sudbury can trace their roots back to Ireland.

They'll be the first to let their heritage shine this weekend; however, they won't be alone in showing appreciation toward the Bishop of Armagh, St. Patrick.

The suds will be flowing, the food will be bountiful, and good company is sure to be near by. There will be dancing and there will be music — yes, it is going to be a good weekend.

Green-themed events taking place this weekend include:

Peddler's Pub St. Patrick's Day Party – The weekend features Dustin Jones and Rising Tide, as well as an appearance by the Laurentian University Pipe Band and Dancers on March 16. Cover costs $10 at the door. Festivities begin Friday night and continue until the wee hours of Monday morning.

On the Rockz – A family breakfast will be served March 17 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Everyone is welcome to feast for $3 per person. Following breakfast, Andy Lowe and the Laurentian University Pipe Band, as well as Kai Santala and the Keith and Baz show will entertain the crowd. The show is free.

Grumblers – Jeff Wiseman will play St. Patrick's Day, along with pipers and dancers. Cheap wings and food specials will be available. Cover is $15 at the door.

1500 Pub – The Irish Capers are playing all night March 16 from 8 p.m. onward. They'll be back Sunday for a 4 p.m. show. Cover is $10.

Fionn MacCool's – Cameron's Ceildh is playing the new restaurant throughout the weekend. A number of acoustic acts are taking place in between. Seating is on a first-come first-served basis.
