Everyone from the arts community is invited to kick back with other like-minded folks at Arts After Five.

The Sudbury Arts Council is planning to host regular social events for the art community, allowing visual artists, musicians, actors, dancers, written-word creators and more to interact in a pressure-free atmosphere.

Vicki Gilhula, president of SAC, said the events are designed to “celebrate the arts in Sudbury by bringing together the people who make the arts happen in a social setting to mix and mingle.”

While artists from across the board may know of each other, they may not often have the opportunity to simply sit down to converse.

“This is to create synergy in the community,” Gilhula said.

Arts After Five, which was inspired by the Chamber of Commerce's After Business events, also helps the SAC meet its mandate to connect, communicate and celebrate the arts.

“We're trying to keep it simple and follow that mandate,” Gilhula said.

The first Arts After Five event takes place March 27 at On the Rockz. There will be free snacks and entertainment provided by Andy Lowe.

Moving forward, the events will be held at various venues around the city.
