Shout it out loud: KISS is coming

It's been more than four decades since KISS was born. Since then, they've racked up 28 American gold albums, along with 100 million in world sales.

Now, Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, long-time guitarist Tommy Thayer and drummer Eric Singer are back, stronger than ever.

On July 23, they are playing the Sudbury Arena. Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. show go on sale April 5 at 10 a.m. They can be purchased for $76, $106.50 and $146.50 by stopping by the arena, phoning 705-671-3000, or online from livenation.com or greatersudbury.ca.

Throughout the summer tour, KISS will be highlighting their 20th studio album, Monster.

“The 12-song, straight-ahead rock ‘n’ roll album features collaborations from all four members in an effort that shows KISS at the top of its game,” a media release from Live Nation stated. “Monster is the group’s first studio album since the band’s 2009 smash success Sonic Boom, and was also produced by Paul Stanley with Greg Collins at Conway Studios in Hollywood, CA, and The Nook in Studio City, CA.”

The album is the band's nod to the music that first inspired them.

“The group goes back to their own beginnings with the Who-like Freak, while Simmons lives up to the title track’s declaration on the raucous prehistoric punk-rock of Back to the Stone Age and the bludgeoning, self-referential The Devil is Me.”

It doesn’t get bigger than Monster, or KISS.
