Headliners: Silver Birch String Quartet

When Silver Birch String Quartet can get a non-listener to one of their performances, said person leaves a fan.

The string quartet is one of the city's hidden gems. They've wowed crowds all around the country, earned multiple residencies at the Banff Centre for the Arts and even scored a Juno nomination.

The best part is, they exist in our own backyard, much like the trees they're named after.

Highlights of it include:

CD Launch Concert – Oct. 4, 2013: Silver Birch joins with Yoko Hirota to play works by Robert Lemay at their launch.

Maîtres Français – Nov. 20, 2013: Peter Longworth on piano and Erica Raum on violin join the quartet.

Tango Night in Sudbury – Feb. 1, 2014: Silver Birch is joined by Alex Sevastian on accordion, as live tango dancers perform.

Viennese Classics – March 22, 2014: Simon Fryer on cello joins Silver Birch through Haydn, Mozart and the famous cello quintet by Schubert.

Silver Birch X – May 3, 2014: Silver Birch recites string quartet masterworks.

Before launching into their 10th season, the quartet will host a fundraiser. Dvork at Dusk is taking place June 27 at Fielding Memorial Park from 7-9 p.m. Tickets cost $40, and include food and beverages.
