We all know how to Laugh Out Loud. Now, Sudburians can also Laugh Out Proud.

To kick off this year's Sudbury Pride Week, a lineup of funny folks will be entertaining crowds at Zig's July 12 and 13 during the city's premiere festival of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered comedy.

There will be comedy, music and burlesque, beginning at 8 p.m. each night. Local comedy show presenter and festival organizer Derek Young is behind the show.

“This is a great event for our community to celebrate and embrace diversity in Greater Sudbury and recognize the advancements that have been made in the Pride community,” he said. “We are excited to announce that Richard Ryder from Proud FM Toronto along with Ted Morris who recently performed at the LOL Comedy Festival will be in Sudbury to launch this new event.”

Other entertainment includes Rachelle Elie in a new edition of the Rag Bag Cabaret. Elie will be joined by awarding burlesque dancer St. Stella, who has performed in New York and at the Canadian Burlesque Expo and Christopher Sawchyn, a character comedian who has performed with Canadian Stage and at the Toronto Festival of Clowns.

Tickets for each show are $25 per night. Weekend passes are available for $45. Tickets can be purchased at the Sudbury Theatre Box Office online or by calling or 705-674-8381. For more information on this event please call 705-918-2601.
