Stories of hope, courage and faithfulness are what Sudbury-based publisher I Believe Press aim to deliver.
On Sept. 27, the first two authors to publish with the press were signing copies of their books at Chapters.
The small publishing house was established by Jeremy Mahood, senior pastor at All Nations Church, and his wife Eileen, as part of their not-for-profit organization I Believe Network. The organization has been around for the past decade and supports community work that encourages positive change in people’s lives.
“We believe there are many talented and inspired writers who, with a helping hand, can bring their books to readers and impact lives in a positive way,” said Mahood.
The first book published was Mahood’s in 2011, "The Relationship Depot: Building Relationships that Last a Lifetime", which provides practical and biblical guidance for addressing relationship challenges that can often lead to multiple relationships and divorce.
“'The Relationship Depot' was a sermon series I delivered in 2009 and made into a book,” said Mahood. “I want to inspire couples to build solid, healthy and long-lasting marriages that are good for families, and communities, and how we can create more of them.”
The press released their second book in July 2013 by local Christian poet, Paulyne Cascanette. Sharing her poetry mostly with family and friends, Cascanette decided to take the plunge and professionally publish her work — a hard-cover that is a collection of 66 poems, prayers and reflections for each book of the Bible.
“There are a lot of hurting people out there that can use encouragement, and if I inspire hope through my writing, then I will keep writing,” said Cascanette.
Both books are available at Chapters, as well as Amazon.ca.
