Wagon Wheel Ranch is offering families a taste of farm life this month.
Besides picking out a pumpkin at the Val Therese-area farm, kids are able to go on pony and wagon rides, and pet animals such as goats, llamas, rabbits and horses.
“It's just a family outing in a different environment,” said Andre Bertrand, whose family has owned Wagon Wheel since 1972.
“If you're going to the movies, you sit down and you watch a movie for two hours and you don't talk to anybody. Here it's very interactive, very hands-on, very tactile. The kids enjoy it.”
Susan Mullen and husband, Jeremy Ryan, of Espanola brought their six-year-old son, Eric Vanier, to Wagon Wheel on Thanksgiving Monday. Mullen said they made the drive because there isn't a similar attraction in their area.
“Our favourite was the wagon ride and the pony rides and the rabbits,” Mullen said.
Evan and Jayden Roy's mom, Samantha Morzsolos, took a few minutes to chat as her kids enjoyed a pony ride.
“It's our first time here, it's awesome so far,” she said.
Wagon Wheel Ranch, located at 2200 Kenneth Dr. in Val Therese, is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each weekend this month. Admission is $15 per child (20-minute wagon ride, petting farm, pony ride, pumpkin), and $10 per adult.
