Milestones Grill & Bar general manager Joe Sheridan watches as a few of his more than 90 employees mill about the restaurant as they familiarize themselves with their new jobs.

The restaurant, which opened its doors last week at 1299 Marcus Dr., across from the Silver City Cinemas, is owned by Sheridan and his brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Louise Sheridan.

One of 48 Milestones restaurants in Canada, it's part of the Cara Foods chain, which also owns brands such as Montana's and Kelsey's.

“We're really excited,” said Sheridan, who came home to run the restaurant.

He said the family decided to build in the Silver Hills complex because it's a “booming” area of town, close to the movie theatre and retail stores.

Sheridan describes Milestones' atmosphere as “upscale casual,” meaning the food and service is very good, but it's also a “casual and very friendly” establishment.

He said almost all of the restaurant's food, from croutons on up, is made on-site. Milestones Sudbury will also offer the brand's famous evening promotions, including Monday Girls Night Out, Bellini Tuesdays and Wednesday Date Night.

Milestones is open daily.
