After coming in second in CBC's Hockey Night in Canada Song Quest contest, local band The Puckhogs has moved onto plan B.

The group — made up of local musicians Sean Barrette, Chris Leblanc and Brent Wohlberg — has made its song, "For the Love of the Game", available for download for $1 at www.thepuckhogs.bandcamp.com.

The first $5,000 the band makes on "For the Love of the Game" will be donated to the Canadian Tire Jumpstart program to help underprivileged kids join organized sport and recreational programs.

“The groundswell of grassroots and community support in our CBC Song Quest run was incredible,” an email from The Puckhogs said.

“We think helping kids is way more important than any prize we could win. We really want to do this, and we hope you'll go to the Bandcamp page and spend what you can on the song so we can reach our goal.”
