Family Kickboxing on Notre Dame Avenue is inviting Sudburians to lose weight with the help of the club.

The organization's “Make the Change” Challenge starts Feb. 10, and runs for three months, ending May 2.

Sudburians are encouraged to sign up either individually or with a team. These people will have bi-weekly weigh-ins and results will be recorded.

Each individual is encouraged to attend at least two classes per week at Family Kickboxing.

Each individual will be given a basic fitness assessment at the start of the challenge, mid-way (six weeks) and a final one at the end of the challenge (12 weeks) to assess their progress.

At the end of the three months, the individual with the most percentage of weight lost, fat lost, as well as fitness improvement will be chosen as the grand prize winner. Other prizes will also be awarded.

The grant prize is $500, plus a one-year membership to Family Kickboxing.

The deadline for registration is Feb. 7.

An orientation day will be held Feb. 9 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., where there will be an initial weigh-in, fitness assessment and a presentation by a registered dietitian and a Canadian Diabetes Association representative.

The challenge costs $185 for non-members and $130 for members.

Some of the proceeds from this event will be going to the Canadian Diabetes Association to help find a cure.
