Last November, Encore Theatre Company learned it was receiving a $14,500 Ontario Arts Council grant to support one of its three 2014 main stage productions.

The troupe's artistic director, Callam Rodya, said at the time receiving the grant felt like “winning the lottery.”

The money is being used to stage the theatre company's September offering — Blind Nickel Pig by local playwright Lara Bradley.

Well Encore just won the lottery again. It's receiving another $15,000 Ontario Arts Council grant, which will fund another one of Encore's 2014 main stage productions.

This production — details of which have yet to be announced by the theatre company — will be staged in June.

“I don't like to use the word blessing, because I'm not a religious person, but it seems like we've had pretty good karma lately,” Rodya said.

Encore hopes to release full details of its 2014 season sometime this month, he said.

The troupe is still in the process of searching for a downtown space where it can stage its productions this year, but is having trouble finding a suitable premises, Rodya said.
