After a fire at Respect is Burning Supperclub, a new venue has been arranged for a April 25 Northern Ontario Families of Children with Cancer (NOFCC) fundraiser.

The March 20 fire caused about $500,000 in damage to the downtown restaurant.

Because of the fire, Cocktails for Cancer will instead take place starting at 7 p.m. at Ristorante Verdicchio's Natura Hall.

It will feature not only cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, but a silent auction and entertainment by musician Andrew Hyatt and Sea Perry. Local comedian Shawn McLaren will be the MC for the evening.

The event is being organized by Vanessa Warren, who has been named Miss Greater Sudbury. She will compete in the Miss North Ontario Regional Canada Pageant in May. The pageant's charity of choice is NOFCC.

Warren hopes to raise $10,000 for the charity through Cocktails for Cancer.

Tickets to the event, which cost $45 each, are available by contacting Warren at 705-626-5321 or [email protected] or the NOFCC at 705-586-3229 or [email protected]
