May has been described as a choir of one, as she combines her voice with her mastery of a loop pedal.

“With layered beatboxing and harmonies as her backdrop, Kira delivers beautiful melodies over top, leaving the listener with an experience that is hauntingly beautiful,” said her promoter, Randal Ball.

May is a contestant in CBC's Searchlight Competition, in which she could win $20,000 worth of Yamaha music equipment.

The Speakeasy concert begins at 10 p.m. Admission is a suggested $5 donation.
