A locally produced TVO animated television series called Monkey See Monkey Do has received a $701,276 grant from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation to produce a second season.

The series, produced by Title Entertainment Inc., Smartoonz Inc., and Monkey See Monkey Do Productions Inc., follows an animated monkey who encourages kids to engage in physical activities while learning about science.

A press release from Sudbury MPP Rick Bartolucci said the project strengthens Northern Ontario’s film and television production sector and creates job opportunities for graduates from Collège Boréal’s and Cambrian College’s animation and related programs. The project is expected to create 42 jobs.

“Through NOHFC’s support, we are helping bring another animated television production to Sudbury and creating opportunities for our young graduates to build careers in the North,” said Bartolucci.

“TVO is pleased to access the funding through the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation and to support independent producers in Ontario’s North,” stated Lisa de Wilde, Chief Executive Officer, TVO.

“Monkey See, Monkey Do is designed to offer children a more participatory experience that encourages kids to be active and lead healthy lifestyles while they are learning.”
