The cafe's owner, Vivian Ip, named the cafe in honour of Reg Gascon, a friend and long-time employee of her parents.
Because he died of a massive heart attack in May 2012, she decided to raise funds for the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Half of the cafe's proceeds during the official opening will go to the foundation. She's also launching an initiative called Soup 4 the Soul, where fifty percent of all soup sales will go towards the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
The grand opening event will the family-friendly, with face painting available for $2, free heart-shaped balloons, and people in minion costumes greeting children. There will also be live music.
Although Reggie’s Crêpes opened in February, Ip decided to hold the grand opening June 1, as that would have been Reggie's 70th birthday.
“I never thought I would get this far,” said Ip, in a press release.
“It’s a lot of difficult work, but I am happy that I am here now. I’m glad that I listened to the advice of my closest friends and that of Reggie, who always encouraged me to keep going. This is what I’m supposed to be doing, giving people healthy options during everyone’s fast-paced life.”
Reggie's Crepes is located at 2987 Hwy. 69 North in Val Caron. For more information, phone 705-626-0898 or search for Reggie's Crepes on Facebook.
