Sudbury’s own Théâtre du Nouvel-Ontario (TNO) is nominated for a 2014 Premier’s Award for Excellence in the Arts.

Created by the province in 2006, the premier’s award celebrates the outstanding achievements of artists and arts organizations and their continued contribution to culture.

“We are very pleased to have been nominated again this year,” said Genevieve Pineault, artistic and general director of TNO. “Being a finalist for a premier’s award is an important recognition of the TNO’s contribution towards its community, the province, as well as the artistic milieu for more than 40 years.”

The award is given to an arts organization that is involved in the production and distribution of artistic work by professional artists. The award includes a $50,000 reward. The winner will be announced in Toronto in September.

The TNO has been previously nominated in 2006 and 2012.
