Tour some of the city’s finest homes

Have you ever wanted to see the inside of some of the city’s nicest homes?

You can get your chance Sept. 10 when the Elizabeth Fry Chapter of the International Order of the Daughters of the Empire (IODE) hosts its 38th annual Tour of Homes.

The event runs from 1-8 p.m. and features five remarkable homes in the Sudbury area.

“It’s a very social event,” said IODE member Mary Guy. “It’s a great way to give back to the community and a great way for people to see the latest in house decoration.”

Five homes are on the tour this year. They include Janet and Wayne Ablitt’s lakeside home on Second Avenue; Fran and Rainer Paull’s stone-faced house on Lauzon Avenue; Jennifer and Frank Rocca’s home-within-a-home on King Street in Coniston; Pat and Don Charles’ Neelon Avenue bungalow with its magnificent view of Ramsey Lake; and the final home is a large stone Long Lake home on Eden Township Road, with an impressive lock stone path stretching from driveway to lakefront.

Proceeds from the event will help support ALS Canada, the Canadian Mental Health Association, the Good Neighbours Valley East Food Bank, and St. Joseph’s Villa.
