Concert helps mission serve up more meals

A concert in benefit of the Elgin Street Mission will be held starting at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 18 at Grace Hall. The fundraiser is being held to offset the impact of the Salvation Army's decision to no longer serve meals on the Elgin Street Mission.

A concert in benefit of the Elgin Street Mission will be held starting at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 18 at Grace Hall.

The fundraiser is being held to offset the impact of the Salvation Army's decision to no longer serve meals on the Elgin Street Mission.

“The mission estimates that they will be serving up to 100 additional people per meal per day,” a press release said. “This is going to put a heavy burden on their limited resources.”

Five bands will be performing at the concert — On Tap, Chicks with Picks, Mike Trudell, Giant Rabbits and CDK. The event is organized by Orpheus Music Management and Ever Growing Past.
