Capreol will be a happening place over the next month or so.
The community's first annual Trick or Eat Food Drive takes place Nov. 2. The Bread & Roses Food Bank is in desperate need this time of year to help replenish its shelves and prepare for the holiday season.
Starting at 5:30 p.m., people are encouraged to show up at Trinity United Church — wearing costumes — and are then assigned a street to canvass for non-perishable food items.
On Dec. 6, Capreol will celebrate the Christmas season with a tree lighting and Santa Claus parade.
The tree lighting activities will begin at 5 p.m. with the Candle Walk at the Northern Ontario Railway Museum & Heritage Centre. Attendees will then walk to the Cenotaph, where carol singing will be led by the Capreol Community Choir.
The tree lighting will follow, along with Horse drawn wagon rides (Wagon Wheel Ranch). Mr and Mrs. Claus will visit with children at the Cenotaph Gazebo.
The Capreol Lions Club Christmas Hamper Food Drive is also taking place and food is being collected at local businesses around town.
The Parade will start at 6 p.m. this year. Parade participants are encouraged to have Christmas music and lights as part of their entry. There is no theme and no cost to enter and everyone is welcomed.
Once at the arena, patrons are encouraged to come upstairs to the rec hall to meet Santa, enjoy refreshments, listen to live music and take part in children's activities. The sleigh rides will continue at the arena.
