Born in Finland and now living in Sudbury, Heinonen is a visual artist who works in mixed media. He has studied fine art in Toronto, Kingston and Sudbury, and forestry in Lindsay, and is presently studying psychology at Laurentian University.

Throughout his life, Heinonen has dealt with disabling personal problems. Human emotions are a very strong element in all of his paintings.

Derived from his life experiences, it is what he knows best – people and their feelings. Since he began painting professionally five years ago, he has already noticed a shift towards more positive themes.

He is an active member of Northern Initiative for Social Action (NISA) and the local arts community, and volunteers his time to organizations where he once sought help.

Heinonen has had several exhibitions and continues to produce prolifically.

To view and/or purchase Heinonen's work, visit the STC, 170 Shaughnessy St., from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily or on show nights until 7:30 p.m.

Visit Heinonen's website at www.PaintingsByLarson.com.
