“Stacks of unsorted but deemed 'important' papers: scribbled notes, photographs and documents. A flood in a storage unit turns dozens of books into a sticky, mouldy mess. The same curious phrase continually reappears in a variety of different situations. Images emerge on potato chips, clouds and water stains.

“I collect, organize and compile animals, objects and documents — organic and inorganic. Through my varied approach as an archivist, documenter, collector and curator, I piece together elements of personal history while interweaving them with objects of happenstance.

“Utilizing seemingly haphazard taxonomical systems in my attempt and strategy to understand the universal phenomena of absence and loss. The juxtaposition between archives, multiples and found objects blur the lines of absurdity, hilarity, sadness and dissolving them into a residual karmic joke.”

North Forte Gallery is located at 122 Durham St., Unit 204, and is open Wednesday through Friday from noon to 3 p.m., and other times by chance or appointment.
