The Songs of Summer Music Festival is back for a second year in 2015, and although the festival’s first edition was held in June, it will be held Aug. 21-23 this time.

“We have been fortunate to receive a substantial amount of government funding for the second edition of The Songs of Summer Music Festival,” said Theatre Cambrian executive director Mark Mannisto.

“Due to the significance of the funding, and in order to meet our expansion, we have moved the festival from June to the weekend of Aug. 21-23. It allows us to host more artists at more locations and celebrate the mosaic of the arts and culture scene in Greater Sudbury.”

This event has been financially assisted by the Ontario Cultural Attractions Fund, a program of the Government of Ontario, through the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport, administered by the Ontario Cultural Attractions Fund Corporation.

The spotlighting of northern artists, and allowing the venue to become more arts-inclusive, remains the main mandate of Theatre Cambrian’s Songs of Summer Music Festival.

Festival co-ordinator Shawn Bailey has put extra emphasis on the Northern Ontario aspect of the festival.

The Songs of Summer Music Festival will also feature Northern Ontario craft breweries. All crafters and artisans in attendance will be Ontario-based.
