Artists Gary Blundell and Victoria Ward have teamed up for a joint exhibition at the Art Gallery of Sudbury.

STRATA: Field Reports, is on display from Jan. 17 to March 1.

Blundell and Ward started STRATA in Sudbury in 2005 when both artists spent time visiting sites around the area and exploring mining’s impact on the landscape.

From Sudbury, they travelled to other mining communities in Canada and England to investigate the many aspects of how resource extraction transforms landscapes and also the people who live with them.

Blundell focuses on Earth’s progressive changes and demonstrates this through his layered artworks. Ward’s artwork follows the story of human impact on the land and she expresses this through a photo-transfer technique.

An opening reception for the exhibit takes place Jan. 17 from 1-3 p.m.

The gallery is located at 251 John St. It's open Tuesday – Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. For more information, visit www.artsudbury.org, or phone 705-675-4871.
