This year's edition of the fundraising event Toronto Celebrates Sudbury is set to take place May 28 at the Steam Whistle Brewery in Toronto.
Last year's event, held in October, raised $100,000 for Laurentian University and Health Sciences North.
“The annual event will be changing seasons, moving to a spring date in hopes of raising much needed funds for local charitable organizations in Sudbury,” a press release said.
The Sudbury Community Foundation will assist the organizing committee in choosing this year's charity of choice.
“We are thrilled to be able to give back to our hometown with the generous support of many current and former Sudburians,” said Jamie Lamont, co-chair of Toronto Celebrates Sudbury organizing committee.
“Our goal is to create a legacy for Sudbury and we are off to a great start.”
Perry Dellelce, co-chair of the Toronto Celebrates Sudbury Committee, noted that the event is becoming a mainstay of the Toronto cultural scene for many former Sudburians.
As well, many Sudburians travel to Toronto, specifically for the evening, resulting in a wonderful reunion of past and present Sudburians.
Tickets are $200 each and are on sale at www.torontocelebratessudbury.ca and www.sudburycf.ca.
