Signs we’re springing forward

March 20 marks the first day of spring, but as true Canadians, we know that spring doesn't officially begin until we start seeing these familiar sights: 1.Walking out the door with just a sweater on instead of a five-pound parka. 2.

March 20 marks the first day of spring, but as true Canadians, we know that spring doesn't officially begin until we start seeing these familiar sights:

1.Walking out the door with just a sweater on instead of a five-pound parka.

2.Not having to put your windshield wipers up or plug in your car before tucking in for the night.

3.Socks and sandals sightings. Because we're transitioning slowly, just like the season.

4.Walking outside and it doesn't hurt to breathe.

5.Leaving work and it’s still bright out. Even if you might need an extra shot of espresso in the morning.

6.Potholes and allergies. You really can’t have it all.

7.Spring flowers are a cheery reminder of what’s to come. And maybe an annual reminder of your inability to keep plants alive.

8.Opening windows in your car and in your home, on purpose!

9. Barbecuing outside as opposed to in the garage. (Insert carbon monoxide warning here).

10.Overly ambitious camping trips. Tents, sleeping bags, marshmallows, toques, long underwear, mittens and ultimately spending the night in the car. Nice try.

Regardless, we've made it. Only a string of frigid spring days left so, Happy First Official Day of Spring! Don’t worry, winter will be back in a couple of days.
