An Egyptian warrior and a beautiful slave who might be a princess find love in St. Charles College's production of Aida - The Timeless Love Story, which opens tonight at the school.

St. Charles College has been working hard in preparation for this year's presentation of a play by Elton John and Tim Rice.

The drama focuses on the passionate love affair between an Egyptian warrior, Radames, and Aida, a slave who (spoiler alert!) is actually the strong-willed princess of Nubia.

The lovebirds must balance their forbidden love and their duty to king and country.

With a plot to assassinate the pharaoh at Radames' own wedding with the king's daughter, energetic dancing, lavish costumes and music by Elton John thrown in the mix, audiences will be stuck to their seats right to the dramatic and inspiring finale.

Perfomances for students hit the stage May 7 and May 8, at 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., at $3 a ticket.

Public performances are May 6-9 at 7 p.m. each night.

Available at the door, tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for students and seniors, and free for children 6 and under.
