Murder Murder describes itself as a “bluegrass/outlaw country band,” while Carden Cove is a folk rock group.

Sudbury native singer-songwriter Shawn Brady has also progressed to the regional finals for the Toronto area.

CBC Music and Radio One have teamed up for the nation-wide talent search that is one-part showcase and one-part contest. Musicians entered their music in the contest, and fans are invited to vote online for their favourite act.

Ten musical acts from each region (except Iqaluit, where there's five) are currently competing to get into the national finals.

This round will continue until April 27 at 3 p.m., when one regional champion will go on to the final national round. To vote, Google “Searchlight contest” and search for your favourite act.
