A first-generation North American of Cameroonian descent, who was born in New York City, lived in France and now calls Montreal home is the first performer in this year's Vale Concert Series.

The show is part the first of the five-show Vale Concert Series that begins May 20 with a show by Ce?cile Doo-Kingue?. Considered one of Montreal’s most electrifying guitarists, she blends blues, soul and Afro-folk to create a unique sound.

Regardless of subject matter, mood or language, Cécile captivates you with her sincerity while her sound soothes body and soul. This bilingual performer kicks off the 2015 Vale Concert Series tonight.

The Vale Concert Series are free shows sponsored by the mining company and and held throughout the summer at the Grace Hartman Amphitheatre on the shores of Ramsey Lake. All shows begin at 7 p.m. and admission is free to the community. Monetary donations to the Sudbury Food Bank are welcomed.

“Vale is proud to continue this popular tradition of excellent music in support of a great cause,” said Angie Robson, manager of corporate and Aboriginal affairs for Vale’s Ontario operations. “We have an incredible line up of talent this year, and we invite the community to come out and enjoy these free concerts on shores of Ramsey Lake this summer.”

Over the past 3 years, the Vale Concert Series has raised almost $50,000 for the Sudbury Food Bank in funds and food thanks to the generosity of the community.

All concerts are produced and managed by Bob Bale, a 2011 recipient of the Sudbury Food Bank ‘Hubby Award’ and a recipient of a 2015 Community Builder Award for his charitable work to help feed those in need in the community through music. The Travelodge Hotel also generously provides accommodation for all of the artists.

After Doo-Kingué, Union Duke hits the stage on June 17 for the next concert in the series.

Following their successful album release, “Cash & Carry,” and near constant touring in 2014, they are ready to bring their show on the road yet again with vocal harmonies that combine Indie rock with country and bluegrass into a heel-stomping, soul-igniting good time.
