Sudbury Theatre Centre will close out the 2014/2015 Season with a heartwarming show aimed at its youngest theatregoing audience.

On stage for a short run of two public performances on May 23, “There’s a Mouse in My House” by Carrie Costello is based on the popular children’s storybook by Sheree Fitch.

The play, like the book, follows Sherry (played by Abigail Yzereef), a charming and quick-witted mouse, who would like to live permanently at the Saunders residence.

However, Mrs. Saunders (played by Cassandra Rene) is terrified of the young houseguest and charges her son, Aaron (played by Camil Rochon), to get rid of the little pest.

But before that happens, Sherry is offered the chance to present her case to stay by wisely using an arsenal of word games, stories, and fun.

It is an engaging, fast-paced, and delightful play for young crowds that encourages audience participation.

STC playwright-in-residence Matthew Heiti directs the production with a set design by Katherine Smith, lighting design by Michael Johnson and original music by Eric Lapalme. Jeff Smith is the stage manager.

“There’s a Mouse in My House” is on stage at the Sudbury Theatre Centre for two performances only on May 23: a 2 p.m. matinée and a 7 p.m. evening performance. The show is approximately 45 minutes in length with no intermission.

Tickets are $15 for children and $23 for adults and seniors. A special family pack of four tickets is available for $50.48.

For tickets, call the STC Box Office at 705 674 8381 ext. 21 or visit sudburytheatre.ca.
