Meet Lana Squires: Ontario's best young public speaker

Lana Squires is like any other Grade 3 student. She hangs out with her friends, helps her mom and dad, maybe teases her brother a little. But you put Lana in front of a crowd and this girl can talk. She doesn't seem to mind one bit.
Lana Squires is like any other Grade 3 student. She hangs out with her friends, helps her mom and dad, maybe teases her brother a little.

But you put Lana in front of a crowd and this girl can talk. She doesn't seem to mind one bit.

Maybe that's why Lana took first place in Ontario for the Grade 1 to 3 category in the Royal Canadian Legion's annual public speaking contest.

That's right, Lana is the best young public speaker in Ontario in her age category, having won at the provincial finals in Sault Ste. Marie earlier this month.

So NorthernLife.ca invited Lana up to our newsroom on Elgin Street for a good old-fashioned grilling from some reporters, press conference style. It didn't even faze her.

This girl's going places. Thanks for coming in Lana!
